What Customers Say About Hop High:

I grew up with old skool country in the 60's. Wow. and the flavour of this music is incredibly refreshing, combining the old skool feeling with Crooked Still's original sound (love the cello).

I highly recommend you to listen any clips that's over 30 sec. Let these young folks play their instruments and show you how they define traditional music. The tunes on this album really would widen your horizon and broaden your limited music taste. Who says grandpa's music can't sound good. The bottom line is, you'd hear amazing cello and banjo solos on this CDs.

At the other flank, banjo player Greg Liszt drew some of the most satisfying banjo playing I have ever heard. If the cds show a fraction of the substance they displayed at the concert, they will be well worth nuying. Underneath it all, baas player Cory DiMario pulsed and underpinned the two flanks of inventivity, drawing it all together. Having been to lots of concerts, I was not prepared for this mindblowing event. By Darlig Cory, I was dancing in my seat.

November 2007. Sitting in the first row, a few yards from cellist Rushad Eggleston, I watched him play raw riffs, fiddle runs, otherworldly space sounds, sweet harmonies, Coltrane-like runs, bluegrass tinge - never playing the same sequence twice, looking like he constantly landed on earth from some outer space of pure music. The banjo sound often becomes limited/limiting after a few pieces, but here was a true scientist of the banjo at work, alwys adding new nuances to the picture. One of the most amazing bands I have heard - go see them if you get a chance. Granted, I ahve not heard the cd, but ran into a concert in Boston by chance 9.

The material will be mostly familiar to fans of folk music, but the sheer musicianship took the songs far beyond the merely competent stuff. Hovering above it all the vocals, sounding a bit limited at first, but revealing more and more qualities song by song, until Aoife O'Donovan had us all in her thrall by the end.

The Music will move you to. it is up to you where it takes you, but it will move You, or get you moving.

I am glad to have added it to my collection of Americana roots music. Unique group. Great listening.
